Ok this may be a stupid question, whats the thing with not telling people before 3 months?

I understand that a lot of early pregnancies end in miscarriage, but pretty much everyone at my work knows ( Ive been really ill the last few weeks) and I am only about 7.5 weeks, stressing now that its a bad omen, is it just a superstitous thing, or is there something to it?
